Meet Brody. Brody from California, who seems to dislike getting his hair cut. Then, you must ask youeself, why is he about to feature himself in a Haircut Cinema movie? Well, without going into too much back-story, Brody here has to get his hair cut. He has to. He has no choice but to. The barber in charge knows the story, but it’s not much for the stuff of movies…
His hair though, is another story! Healthy, straight, thick brown hair. Shaggy on top, long in the back – it just begs to be played with! It’s combed, slicked, tusseled, teased – all for the sake of letting him sit with the feeling a little bit longer then actually required. It’s kind of fun watching him react.
A sharp pair of scissors take away a lot of bulk and length from all over at first. Framing his face, complete with nervous expressions – the hair begins to fall and gather up in his lap. Sometimes he closes his eyes, sometimes he winces, sometimes he just looks kind of blank. He has to get his haircut, like it or not.
The barber mows down the sides with some clippers, giving him some hot new looks that he’s not to keep for very long. Oster 76 take care of things, giving both tight and wide shots of the haircut. You can feel right up close on the action, and then take a step back, capturing the whole scene.
This movie goes at a slower pace, savoring this young mans’s reaction to the haircut – as it happens. At a running total of 36 minutes, each scene shows the haircut happening in stages. This is a movie you’ll want in your haircut movie library to enjoy many times over.
